Lake Längsee: A forest lake near Kufstein
Lake Längsee is a small lake west of Kufstein, nestled within the woodland surrounding the Thierberg. It is a protected nature reserve and privately owned, but is open to the public.
Hikers and nature lovers in particular, who are looking for a peaceful, unspoilt spot away from the peak swimming season and the hustle and bustle, will find this the perfect place.
What makes the lake special?
Längsee is a natural forest lake that differs significantly from traditional bathing destinations.
- Privately owned: The lake is privately owned but open to the public.
- No facilities: Consequently, there are no sunbathing areas, no jetty and no managed access points around the lake. Visitors here encounter unspoilt nature.
- Steep banks: The banks drop away steeply in places. The dense forest extends right down to the water’s edge.
- Nature conservation: The lake is a protected nature reserve. This means not only that interference with the habitat is prohibited, but also that the flora and fauna here remain largely undisturbed.
